Heritage leather. Brass hardware.
Built to outlast the dog.
Goodtail is a small-batch maker of premium dog goods — full-grain leather collars and leads, hand-thrown stoneware, walnut elevated stands, and waxed canvas. Made by hand in the Pacific Northwest.
A few we love right now.
Hand-picked from this month’s batch. Made in small numbers and shipped within two business days.
Three rules we live by.
Every piece on this site has to clear all three before it ships.
Real materials, always.
Full-grain leather from a single domestic tannery, solid brass hardware, hand-thrown stoneware, American walnut. Never bonded leather, never plated buckles, never plastic.
Small batches.
Made in batches small enough that we can inspect every piece. If we wouldn’t put it on our own dogs, it doesn’t ship.
Built to outlast.
We design for a decade of daily walks. With reasonable care, every piece should be worth handing down.
The difference is in the details.
A side-by-side look at what separates our work from what most pet stores carry.
“We started Goodtail because every collar we owned wore out, every bed lost its shape, and every bowl ended up chipped or plastic. We wanted things that would last as long as our dogs did.”— A Note from the Workshop
The slow way. On purpose.
Our process hasn’t changed in three years and won’t change for the next ten. We think that’s the point.
Source one good hide.
Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather from a single domestic tannery. We pay more than we have to; we get hides we can stand behind.
Cut by hand.
Every collar and lead is cut from a single hide with a straight knife. We mark, score, and bevel before any stitch goes in.
Saddle-stitch by hand.
Two needles, one waxed thread, every stitch knotted. Twice the time of a machine stitch and four times the lifespan.
Burnish, oil, finish.
Edges hand-burnished with beeswax and elbow grease. Leather sealed, then oiled by hand. Brass attached with solid copper rivets.
Inspect, twice.
Once by the maker, once by a second pair of eyes. Anything we wouldn’t put on our own dogs goes in the seconds pile.
Wrap and ship.
Packed in unbleached cotton, no plastic. Shipped within two business days from our workshop in the Pacific Northwest.
Things people ask us.
Answers to what most people want to know before their first order.
What sizes do your collars come in?
Small (10-13″), Medium (13-17″), and Large (17-22″). If between sizes, size up — leather settles into a perfect fit over the first month. Custom sizes available; write to hello@goodproxiva.store.
How do I care for the leather?
Wipe down after wet walks. Once a quarter, work in a small amount of leather balm by hand. That’s it. The leather will darken and soften over years — a feature, not a defect.
Are the bowls dishwasher safe?
Yes — top rack, dishwasher and microwave safe. Avoid sudden temperature swings. The cream matte glaze is food-grade and fired at high temperature.
How long does shipping take?
We ship within 2 business days. Standard ground shipping is 2-5 business days to the contiguous 48 states. Free on orders over $120; flat $8 otherwise.
What if it doesn’t fit or I don’t love it?
Send it back within 30 days for a full refund, no questions asked. Prepaid return label included. Lifetime craft guarantee on anything we make.
Do you do wholesale or trade orders?
Yes, for retailers and groomers. We onboard a small number of trade partners each season. Write to hello@goodproxiva.store.
